Our Surviving Winter Appeal aims to help tackle fuel poverty and social isolation by supporting older and vulnerable people and families in Northamptonshire.
One in 10 households across the county live in fuel poverty, spending more than 10% of their income on fuel. Older and vulnerable people are having to choose whether to heat or eat over the winter months.
The winter of 2018 saw the highest recorded Excess Winter Deaths since 1975. Above the national average, Northamptonshire recorded 469 Excess Winter Deaths, an increase of 163 from the previous year (Office for National Statistics). Our appeal is vital to ensure that older and vulnerable residents in our communities are not left struggling this winter.
Every penny raised from our appeal will be passed on to those in greatest need. The money raised is distributed to local organisations who are dedicated to helping older and vulnerable people.
The Surviving Winter Appeal runs throughout the winter months. Please think about giving some, or all, of your winter fuel allowance or a donation to our cause to ensure those who are less fortunate can stay warm and healthy this winter.
