Family breakdown is tough for children, and too many lose contact with one or other parent following separation.  Since 2001 our accredited Child Contact Centre has provided a neutral, safe and relaxed environment where children can enjoy spending time with a non-resident parent or other family members, when this is not possible elsewhere.    We employ a co-ordinator but rely on volunteers to staff our weekly sessions.  Volunteers commit to a session of 3-5 hours one Saturday a month.  Their job includes preparing the rooms, welcoming service users, encouraging positive parent child interaction and ensuring everyone is safe. The wellbeing of children is always our priority.

Volunteers must be over 18 and agree to an enhanced DBS check. No special qualifications or experience are required, but volunteers need to be able to maintain confidentiality, remain impartial and be a calm, reassuring presence when people are stressed and anxious.  Training is provided, including compulsory, annual safeguarding training.
